KingKids Berwick Childcare Activities

In January 2016 the Victorian State Government introduced a “No Jab, No Play” legislation that has been designed to improve childhood vaccination rates and reduce the spread of vaccine preventable diseases.

The legislation requires the confirmation of children’s vaccination status when enrolling in childcare. This means that if your child is not vaccinated and does not qualify for an exemption, a place cannot be offered. More information is available on the Vic Health website.

On enrolment at one of our KingKids early learning centres, you are required to provide us with your child’s Immunisation History Statement from Medicare. The “Health Record” you may have been provided by the Maternal Child Health Nurse is no longer accepted. Legislation states, families need to provide us with a copy of your child’s Immunisation History Statement to our centre every 6 months, even if there are no changes in the 6-month period.

If your child is exempted from being immunised and the service has an outbreak of an infectious virus such as Rubella, Chicken Pox, Measles, Whooping Cough or Mumps, you will be informed, and your child will need to be excluded from the service until such time as the outbreak has cleared. (Informed by the NHMRC Staying Healthy Guidelines: recommended minimum exclusion periods)

Where to find your child’s Immunisation History Statement?

You can print a copy of your child’s immunisation history statement from your myGov account. (see instructions below)

Alternatively, if you have difficulty getting a copy via your myGov account you can call Medicare on 1800 653 809 or visit a Medicare or Centrelink office.

If you don’t hold a Medicare card you must call the Australian Immunisation Register to request a statement.

How to obtain your child’s Immunisation History Statement via myGOV?

  1. Download the ‘EXPRESS PLUS MEDICARE’ app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Open the app and select ‘SIGN IN’.
  3. Enter your pin. If you do not have a pin for the app, you can create one by going through ‘RESET PIN’ and following the prompts (you will need your myGov username, password and secret question).
  4. Select ‘IMMUNISATION’ from the ‘SERVICES’ menu.
  5. Select the name you wish to obtain the statement for (everyone who is on your Medicare card will be shown here).
  6. Read the terms & conditions and select ‘ACCEPT’.
  7. The selected immunisation statement will show on your screen. To forward this via email, select the square with arrow icon in the top right corner.
  8. Select ‘MAIL’ and forward it to your centres email (which can be found on our Contact page) or print and hand to it to the management team in the childcare centre.
